Storm coming. Line about to jam.

If you are in the way of a storm and think your power may go out, HoldLight is your solution for a simple $25. When the power company is busy and inundated with people calling, HoldLight is built to increase your probability of getting through to the power company you choose. Go through the site, fill out the application, and boom, you’re done.

62%

Modeled chance of at least one live handoff across a full assisted session. A single manual attempt in the same model is 8%. Not a guarantee. Not a measured utility study.

Family at home with lanterns during an outage
Step 1 · Save power before it dropsCharge phones and batteries now. Turn the fridge colder, then leave the door shut. Unplug the TV, chargers, and anything on standby.
Step 2 · Stretch what you haveUse one lantern, not every light. Keep the thermostat steady. Skip the redial loop so the phone battery lasts. HoldLight waits on the line.

The vision

A serious desk for an undignified chore.

Outage lines fail people at the worst hour. Our company exists to take that queue off the kitchen counter. We do not sell power, credits, or restoration. We sell attention on the line, then a clean handoff.

What changes for the customer

Instead of redialing between flashlights and children, the session runs in the background. If the model holds and an agent answers, the phone in your pocket rings. If it does not, the fee was for the attempt.

The founder

A Midwest man who watched the line fail a family in Florida.

Brant Dumford is from the Wichita area of Kansas. On a trip to his family’s house in Florida, a storm took the power and the utility line did not behave the same for everyone. Some people got through. Others redialed while the house went dark. The gap was not subtle, and it showed up at the hour it mattered.

He came home with a narrow idea: a wholesome, practical aid for that wait. Power Outage Aid Company is the company he formed in Derby so a household can hand the hold to someone else and pick up only if a person answers. The desire is simple. Help people get ahold of the power company when the lights are out.

Why the trip stayed with him

The storm did not invent the busy signal. It showed it. Neighbors on the same street did not have the same chance of reaching a person. That uneven wait is the whole reason HoldLight exists.

Why 62%

More patient attempts raise the odds of a live agent.

If each attempt has an 8% chance of reaching a person, and attempts are independent, twelve attempts produce about a 63% chance of at least one connection. We publish that as 62%. One manual try in the same model stays at 8%.

One manual call8%
Three manual tries22%
Assisted session, published figure62%

Formula: 1 − (1 − 0.08)^12 ≈ 63%, shown as 62%. The 8% is a teaching assumption, not a rate measured at any utility. Storm load, menus, and whether you answer the bridge all change the result.

Required notice

No guarantee.

Power Outage Aid Company does not guarantee a connection, a live agent, a 62% outcome, a better queue position, a successful outage report, or faster restoration. The 62% figure is an illustrative queue model, not a study, warranty, or promise that your life, outage, or call will change by that amount. Utilities control their phones and crews. We are not affiliated with any electric utility.

The $25 fee pays for up to four hours of call attempts and waiting. It is earned for the attempt, not the outcome, and it is not a utility-bill payment. HoldLight is the service name of Power Outage Aid Company, LLC, Derby, Kansas.
